The Black Sheep

I, Lear
The Joy of Wine

Available for touring internationally throughout 2007

The Black Sheep are Andrew Jones and Ciaran Murtagh. They have been making theatre and comedy together since 1999 and set up The Black Sheep in 2002. Since then they have toured extensively throughout the UK with a variety of shows for adults and children.

Currently they are touring I, Lear, The Joy Of Wine and Professor Bumm's Story Machine, which can be booked by venues for performance on the same day - one as a matinee, one as an evening show.

I, Lear

Directed by Cal McCrystal

Opening at Warwick Arts Centre, Feb 2007

A brand new character comedy from critically-acclaimed double act and Radio 4 writers The Black Sheep. This new show is directed by the award-winning Cal McCrystal, best known for his work with The Mighty Boosh, Cirque du Soleil, and Peepolykus.

Two of the country’s finest unemployed actors will show you how theatre should be performed, treating you to their unique interpretations of scenes from Britain’s greatest playwrights (and one or two foreigners). The show culminates in a truly unforgettable and startling reworking of King Lear. You’ll never look at theatre in the same way again…

“Belly laugh inducing mayhem” – The Standard

“I laughed for the first time in days” – The Times

In this acclaimed hour of character comedy, the Reverend Andrew Jones is on a mission to convert lager-swilling luddites to the drink of kings (and tramps). Ably assisted by idiot-savant wine taster Ciaran Murtagh, the Reverend will change the way you feel about wine forever. Whether you own a vineyard or turn pale at the pop of a cork, this show is guaranteed to leave you wanting a drink.
